IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation

On

Evolutionary Computation and Cognitive Science

The Evolutionary Computation and Cognitive Science (ECCS) 2000 workshop, held in Melbourne, Australia, Jan. 28-29, 2000, brought together a wide range of speakers from disciplines related to cognitive science, with the explicit purpose of examining the applications of evolutionary computation to traditional areas of cognitive science. Topics included evolutionary approaches to language (natural and artificial), intelligent agents, cognitive modeling, embodied cognition, autonomous robots, and education.

Selected presenters from the workshop are being invited to extend their presentations for possible publication in a special issue of the IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation dedicated to exploring connections between evolutionary computation and cognitive science. Papers on the above and related topics are also hereby solicited for consideration from the broad evolutionary computation community. All papers will be refereed.

Deadline for submission: July 1, 2000.

Submissions should be forwarded to the guest editors, Janet Wiles and Jennifer Hallinan.
