UQ Psychology

Washington University Program

Session 1 2008

Welcome to the UQ Psychology, Washington University Study Abroad program. The Wash U program is officially labelled PSYC3991 in the UQ calendar, so be sure to enrol for the course through mySI-net (the web based enrolment system at UQ). All course enrolments must be finalised by the end of teaching week 2.

As part of the program, you will be working jointly with a member of faculty from the School of Psychology. You can click here to see a list of supervisors, links to their webpages, and email addresses so you can contact them directly. You should make contact with your supervisor as soon as possible and ask for some readings to get you up to speed on your project. You should meet with your supervisor before the end of week 2 of the semester.

You’ll be required to keep a diary of your involvement in your particular research project. You are expected to keep a log of when you are involved in your project (i.e., days and hours) and exactly what you are doing. The diary is not graded, but a fail will be awarded for PSYC3991 if the diary is not maintained to the expectations of your supervisor. A research paper in APA format is also to be turned in to your supervisor, and a copy also must be turned in to the Wash U Psychology coordinator.

The program also includes your weekly attendance at the UQ Psychology Scholar Seminar Series. The seminar series includes presentations (or discussions) of current research by Faculty, visiting scholars, and guests of the Faculty. The presentations include a light lunch, and are roughly an hour including 15 minutes for questions and discussion. You’re required to attend each of these presentations. They are scheduled every Wednesday from 12-1pm, so don't organise classes at this time.

List of speakers in the seminar series.

Our first meeting will be Thursday, 28 February 2008 at 12pm in the McElwain Building, Room 317.
