RESEARCH GRANTS:
I have been sole- or first chief investigator for ARC grants totalling $569,882, 1988-97. I was also first chief investigator for a research excellence grant awarded by the University of Queensland totalling $140,000, 1990-92.


SERVICE:

Elected professorial member of Academic Board of the University of Queensland for the term 1990-1992, 1997-99, 2000-2002.

Member of the National Committee for Psychology of the Australian Academy of Science, 1990-1992, 1992-1996.

I have been involved in a number of activities of national academies concerning human dimensions of global change. These include being a member of the national committee for the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme, chair of the Environment and Sustainable Development Committee of the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, 1995-1996, and being a member of the committee for the joint academies workshop on Land Use Cover in Australia (November, 1993).

I organized a workshop on Human Dimensions of Global Change for the Academy of Social Sciences in 3-4/11/1989, and a workshop on Environment and Sustainable Development: Social Science Perspectives for the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia, held in Canberra, ACT, April 1993.

President, Australasian Cognitive Science Society, 1993-1997.

I was the foundation director of the cognitive science teaching programme at the University of Queensland (1990-1991).
